Generac generatorsGenerator repair and maintenance for Magnolia homes.
Out on a Magnolia property, a generator is often the difference between a normal evening and a house with no water, no air conditioning and nothing in the freezer. Wired Electrical & Generators is a Generac Prestige Dealer and a family-owned, licensed and insured electrical company, with its showroom and shop at 13910 Alice Road in Tomball. Magnolia is about 30 minutes away (an estimate), and we have served Greater Houston since 2005.
We repair and maintain Generac and other brands, including Kohler, and you do not need to have bought the generator from us. Many rural units run for long stretches when the lines are down, then sit unused for months, and both patterns wear on a machine. Call (713) 467-1125 and tell us what the unit is doing, or what it did the last time it was needed.
What Magnolia jobs look like.
Propane tanks and regulators
Properties around Magnolia often have no natural gas line at the road, so standby generators commonly run on propane from a tank on the lot. For service, that makes the fuel side part of the job: tank level, the regulator, the connection and how the tank is placed in relation to the unit and the house. A generator that burns through a tank during a multi-day outage needs a refill plan before the next storm. We check the supply side, and we tell you what we cannot judge ourselves, such as a tank that belongs to your propane company.
Wells, pumps and what the generator carries
If your house runs on a private well, the pump is likely one of the most important things the generator has to carry, and it has a heavy starting load. When a generator trips or stalls as soon as the pump kicks on, that is a clue worth telling us about. During service we look at how the transfer switch is set up, what circuits it carries and whether the unit is sized for what you expect of it. If you later add a larger well pump or a second air conditioner, the load picture changes, and we can review it.
Pines, pollen and critters
A shaded, wooded lot is hard on an outdoor generator. Pine needles and leaves collect around the base and on the cabinet, pollen clogs air filters, and the dry, warm enclosure is attractive to mice, wasps and ants. Wires that have been chewed can cause faults that look electrical but are really damage from animals. At each visit we open the cabinet, clear what has built up and check for signs of nesting. Between visits, keep the area around the unit clear of debris and mulch.
Longer gaps between visits
On larger properties, a generator can be a long walk from the house, and it is easy to go a full year without looking at it. Do a quick check in the spring: the controller should read AUTO, the breaker on the unit should be on, and the screen should show no fault code. If a code is showing, write it down and call us instead of resetting it repeatedly. Leave the transfer switch and the electrical panel to a technician. Bring up the code, the brand and the model, and we can arrive with the likely part.

Generator repair and maintenance questions from Magnolia.
My generator runs on propane. What do you check?
We check the gas connection and regulator, look at how the fuel is supplied to the unit, and make sure the generator runs properly under load. Tank filling and tank ownership are usually handled by your propane company.
The generator stalls when the well pump starts. What does that mean?
It can mean the generator is undersized for the starting load, the transfer switch circuit setup needs attention, or the pump has a problem. Tell us when it happens and we will work out which.
How often should I have it serviced?
At least once a year, and many owners pick spring. A unit that ran a long time in an outage should be checked soon after.
Do you service generators other than Generac?
Yes, including Kohler and other brands. Tell us the make, model and serial number when you call.
Animals got into my generator. Is that something you handle?
Yes, we inspect for damage, clean out nesting and repair chewed wiring or connections. We also suggest ways to reduce the chance of a repeat.
Can I pick up parts in Tomball?
Yes. Call with your model and serial number, and we will confirm the part for pickup at the Alice Road showroom.
