Electrician in Bellaire & West University Place, TX

Bellaire and West University Place are two separate small cities surrounded by Houston in southwest Harris County: West University Place inside the 610 Loop and Bellaire just outside it. Our shop is at 13910 Alice Road in Tomball, roughly 50 minutes away by our estimate, so we schedule these jobs deliberately and plan the day around them.

Wired Electrical & Generators is a family-owned electrical contractor, licensed and insured, BBB A+ rated, serving the Houston area since 2005. In both cities we pull the permit under the right city office and schedule the inspections. Call (713) 467-1125 to talk through your project.

Two cities, two permit offices

Bellaire's Development Services department takes permit requests through an online portal and issues trade permits only to state-licensed contractors. West University Place runs its own Development Services department with its own process. Bellaire has been a city since 1918 and calls itself the City of Homes, so the work is almost entirely residential. We keep the two straight so your address goes to the correct office the first time.

Older houses and new rebuilds side by side

Bellaire lots are generous, many measuring 75 by 130 feet, and homes from earlier decades sit beside newer, larger houses. Older ones tend to have undersized panels and few circuits for kitchens and home offices. Newer ones raise different questions: whole-house lighting plans, multiple air conditioning systems and EV chargers. We work on both and match the scope to what the house actually needs.

Brays Bayou flooding changed the rules

Both cities sit in the Brays Bayou watershed. Harvey in 2017 flooded many homes in both cities. Bellaire now requires new construction and substantial improvements in its flood zone to be elevated, with HVAC and electrical equipment placed above the design flood elevation, and it treats repairs above half of a home's value as a substantial improvement. If you are repairing or rebuilding, tell us early so the panel and meter are planned at the right height.
