Electrical service for Pinehurst homes, from Tomball.

Pinehurst is about 13 minutes from our Tomball shop, depending on traffic.

Pinehurst sits where FM 149, FM 1774 and SH 249 meet in southwestern Montgomery County, about 4.5 miles north of the Harris County line. It is a census-designated place, not a city, so Montgomery County handles local government.

Our Tomball shop on Alice Road is a short drive from Pinehurst on SH 249. We serve all of Pinehurst, including the Audubon sections. The BBB rates us A+. Call (713) 467-1125 for a free estimate or for emergency service, 24/7.

The county lists no electrical permit, but licensing still applies

Unincorporated Montgomery County does not enforce building codes on single-family homes, and the county Permit Department lists no electrical permit among its residential permit types. That does not mean anyone can be hired to do the wiring. The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation says a person doing electrical work in an unincorporated area needs a license. Wired is a licensed, insured electrical contractor. Outside the floodplain, the county does no final inspection of the house itself (septic and fire-code work aside), so the quality of the wiring rests on the electrician you hire.

Many Pinehurst homes date to the 1970s

Census estimates put the median year built for Pinehurst housing at 1987, and about 55% of homes here went up before 1990. The 1970s was the biggest building decade, with roughly 412 units. When a detached shop, barn or room addition on a Pinehurst lot is fed from a panel of that age, we check whether the panel can carry the extra load. Some jobs need only a subpanel at the shop. Others need a new service at the house.

Manufactured homes are a large share of Pinehurst

By the Census Bureau's estimate, about 38% of Pinehurst housing units are mobile or manufactured homes, roughly 925 are single-family detached houses, and none are in attached or multi-unit buildings. The panel and service upgrades, new circuits, lighting and repairs we do on site-built houses apply to these homes too.

Wind and falling trees

In October 2021 an estimated 60 mph thunderstorm gust just north of Pinehurst dropped trees onto a home. In May 2024 another storm brought down several large trees in the Pinehurst area. If a falling limb damages the wiring on your house, our emergency line is open 24/7 for the repair.

New construction in the Audubon sections

Not everything in Pinehurst is older. Several sections of Audubon, the master-planned community, fall wholly or mostly inside the Pinehurst census boundary: Audubon Park, Heron Run, Creekside South and the Territory at Audubon. For newer homes there, we add Level 2 EV chargers, recessed lighting and landscape lighting.

Questions

Questions we get from Pinehurst.

Do I need a county electrical permit in Pinehurst?

No. Montgomery County has no residential electrical permit, but the electrician doing the work needs a TDLR license. A new structure, such as a detached shop or barn, can still need a county Development Permit. We check the rules for your Pinehurst address before work starts.

My address says Magnolia. Do you work at my house?

Yes. About 62% of the land in the Pinehurst census area falls in ZIP 77354, which carries a Magnolia address and includes the Audubon sections. Pinehurst's own ZIP is 77362, and a small part of the community is in 77355. We also serve the rest of Magnolia.

I live in a manufactured home in Pinehurst. Do you work on those?

Yes. We do panel and service upgrades on manufactured homes, and we track down breakers that keep tripping.

Who is the electric utility in Pinehurst?

PowerToChoose lists CenterPoint Energy Houston Electric as the delivery utility for every plan it shows in all three Pinehurst ZIP codes. Where CenterPoint is the delivery utility, it owns the poles, wires and meters, while the wiring in your house is work for a licensed electrician.
