Emergency electrician for Cypress homes.
When an outlet is sparking, a panel is hot to the touch or half the house has gone dark, you want a person on the phone and a plain answer about what to do next. Wired Electrical & Generators is a family-owned, licensed and insured electrician, and our phones at (713) 467-1125 are open 24/7. If you are in Cypress and think you need an emergency electrician, call us any hour of the day or night.
Our shop is at 13910 Alice Road in Tomball, and Cypress sits on the same side of Harris County, so our trucks come down U.S. 290 or across on FM 2920 and the Grand Parkway. We give you our best estimate of arrival on the call and tell you honestly if traffic or weather will change it. We do not promise a time we cannot keep. If you smell smoke or see flames, get everyone outside and call 911 before you call us.
What Cypress jobs look like.
Big subdivisions, big loads
Cypress is made up of large master-planned communities such as Towne Lake and Bridgeland, along with many smaller subdivisions built in different decades. Newer two-story homes often carry two or three air conditioners, and on a hot August afternoon that is where trouble starts: a main breaker that trips again and again, a lug that has loosened and is heating up, or an air-conditioner circuit that smells like hot plastic. If a breaker will not stay on, do not keep resetting it. Leave it off, tell us which part of the house is dead, and we will talk through whether it can wait until morning.
Is it your house or the street?
Electric delivery in most of the Houston area, including Cypress, is handled by CenterPoint Energy, and the lines, the transformer and the meter are theirs. If your neighbors are dark too, check the utility outage map first, because an electrician cannot restore a grid outage. If only your house is out, or the lights dim and flicker with no storm in sight, the fault is more likely in your own panel, your meter base or the service wires on your side. That is the part we repair. Many Cypress homes also have underground service, so a dead panel with no visible damage is worth a call.
Storm damage, water and creek-side lots
Heavy rain is the usual cause of emergency calls here. Water gets into outdoor outlets, pool equipment, landscape circuits and meter bases, and a storm can leave surge damage in air conditioners, garage door openers and electronics. Lots near Cypress Creek and the area's drainage channels stay wet longer after a storm. If water has reached an outlet, a panel or the floor around either, stay out of it and do not touch the panel. Call us and, if it is safe, switch off the main only if you can reach it while standing on a dry surface.
Permits after an emergency repair
A repair that replaces a panel, meter base or service wiring needs a permit and an inspection before the utility reconnects it. Much of Cypress is unincorporated Harris County, and some addresses fall under a city instead, so we check which office covers your address before we pull anything. We handle the paperwork and schedule the inspection.

Emergency electrician questions from Cypress.
What should I do first if I smell burning?
If there is fire or heavy smoke, leave and call 911. If not, switch off the breaker for the affected circuit when it is safe to reach, keep people away from the spot and call us. Do not keep using an outlet or fixture that smells hot.
Do you answer calls from Cypress at night?
Yes. Our phones are open 24/7 at (713) 467-1125. If the problem can safely wait until morning we say so, and if it cannot, we arrange for someone to come out.
My whole street is dark. Should I call you?
Check the utility's outage map first. If the neighbors are out too, the fault is on the utility's side and an electrician cannot fix it. Call us if only your home is out, if the power came back wrong, or if you smell something hot after it returned.
My air conditioner keeps tripping the breaker. Is that an emergency?
It can be. A breaker that trips repeatedly may mean a failing compressor, a loose connection or an undersized circuit, and the last two can overheat. Turn the system off at the thermostat, leave the breaker off and call us so we can tell you how urgent it is.
Can you repair a meter base damaged in a storm?
Yes, the house side of the service is our work. The utility disconnects and reconnects its own lines, and the repair needs a permit and an inspection, which we arrange.
