Generac generatorsStandby generators for Pasadena homes, installed from Tomball.
Pasadena is about 60 minutes from our Tomball shop, depending on traffic.
Pasadena is served by CenterPoint Energy, and when a storm takes down lines, restoration takes a long time. After Hurricane Beryl in July 2024, more than two million customers in Greater Houston lost power, some for over a week, and the outage ran straight into summer heat. A standby generator turns on within moments of the grid failing.
Wired Electrical & Generators is a family-owned electrician and Generac Prestige Dealer, licensed, insured and BBB A+ rated, serving Houston and the surrounding area since 2005. We install standby generators for homes. For a site visit in Pasadena, call (713) 467-1125.
What a generator has to handle in Pasadena.
Sizing for what your house runs
Pasadena homes range from small postwar houses to newer subdivisions with large air conditioners. That range makes sizing a calculation rather than a guess. We review your panel, your air conditioning and the loads you want covered, then recommend whole-home or select-circuit backup. Older panels sometimes need work before a generator can be connected safely, and we will tell you if yours does.
Fuel, lots and neighbors
Natural gas and propane both work, and the choice depends on your gas service and how much capacity your meter and line have. Lots in older Pasadena neighborhoods vary a lot in width, so we walk the property to find a spot with proper clearance from the house, windows and the fence line. If your yard has drained poorly or flooded, we raise the pad. Some subdivisions have deed restrictions, so check yours before ordering.
Permits inside and outside city limits
Pasadena has its own permit and inspection department, but some addresses with a Pasadena mailing address are outside city limits, in unincorporated Harris County. There, the work still has to meet the state-adopted electrical code and be done by a licensed electrician. We confirm what applies to your address first, then handle the permits and inspections the job needs. Permit timing depends on the city or county; the install itself is usually one day.

Questions we get from Pasadena.
Can an older Pasadena home run a standby generator?
Usually yes, but the panel and service have to be in good shape. We check them at the site visit and tell you if work is needed first.
Does the permit go through the city?
Inside city limits, yes. Some Pasadena mailing addresses are outside city limits, where the work still has to meet the state-adopted electrical code and be done by a licensed electrician. We confirm what applies to your address and handle the permits and inspections the job needs.
Should I choose natural gas or propane?
If your home has gas service with enough capacity, natural gas is convenient. If not, propane works. We check your meter and line and recommend one.
What happens when the power goes out?
The generator senses the loss of utility power, starts and transfers your circuits automatically. When the grid returns, it switches back and shuts down.

$2,000 off a generator install. While supplies last.
It only comes off the units on our floor, so when they're gone, it's gone. New air-cooled Generac installs come with a free 10-year warranty, and financing is there if you want it. Permit timing depends on your city or county. The install itself is usually one day.
