Hurricane Season: What You Need To Know
Hello August and hello hot and humid weather!
We are in the middle of peak hurricane season and the Atlantic is heating up. The NOAA has now released an update to this year’s hurricane forecast, the 2023 Hurricane season is now predicted to be “above normal” with 14-21 named storms. The record-breaking water temperatures are what many forecasters say is bringing the potential for more storms as we head into September.

Top tips for hurricane preparation:
- Create an evacuation plan.
- Stock your home with supplies should you shelter in place. Your hurricane prep shopping list should include non-perishable food items, water, and medicine for each member of your family to last for a minimum of 4 days – don’t forget your pet’s food! Batteries, flashlights, candles, and a battery-powered radio are also needed when the electricity goes out.
