Answered: Burning Questions About Generator Installations
Read on below, we answer all of the questions you need to know before you install a Generac generator with our team.
How long will my home generator installation take?
Your generator installation can take anywhere from two weeks to a month for the entire installation to be completed. Every city in Houston has different requirements when it comes to generator installations. Our team knows these requirements and is skilled in pulling permits for your installation to take the stress off your back.
After my home loses power, when will my generator start running?
After your generator senses a problem, your power will transfer 5-10 seconds after the generator is fully up and running. During this transfer process, you can expect your power will be off for a total of 5-15 seconds total. Your generator will be up and running and generating electricity in your home until normal utility power returns.
Once the power is restored from the utility company, the generator will transfer power back to the utility power mode within 5-15 seconds. During this transfer process, expect the lights to flicker for a quick moment. The generator will continue to run for 60 seconds in a “cool down” mode.
How do I get started with MobileLink?
MobileLink is how our team tracks the activity of your generator. You will have the option to enroll in this monitoring service before your generator is installed so that on the day that your generator is installed you will immediately be able to track the status right from the app.
Managing your generator directly from your phone with MobileLink has never been easier.

How often should I schedule a maintenance appointment?
Just like your car, your generator needs scheduled maintenance too. At the very least, your generator should have a maintenance service done once a year, but we highly suggest to all of our customers that every 6 months is best.
